Works are going on on the foundations of Pier 6
While the preparatory activities started in the past weeks, with the aim of making the areas of the construction site viable, the actual construction of the new bridge continues at the foot of the viaduct on the Polcevera stream.
The construction of the new bridge has begun
The construction of the new bridge over the Polcevera stream started with the pile for Pier 6 being drilled underground. This will be the first of eleven piles supporting the base of Pier 6, all drilled into the ground down to a 46-meter depth.
The Commissioner approved the level 1 executive design project on Friday, April 5th
After improving the test-pile operation and adding the drilling in the stress test, the Commissioner signed the Decree of Approval on Friday, April 5
Preliminary works to build the bridge have started
Preliminary work to make the construction site at the feet of the Polcevera viaduct fit for use have started in advance, as compared to the schedule shared with the Commissioner.
