The Piers on the west are being built, and the assembly of steel spans continues
The Val Polcevera skyline, after the progressive raising of Pier 9, which has already exceeded a 20-meter height, is preparing to welcome, on the west, the raising of Piers 4, 5 and 6.
Climbing work continues on these four Piers this week as well, i.e. the construction process of the structures in elevation by means of climbing formworks. Still to the west, work is being done on the foundation plinths of Piers 2 and 3, while the foundation plinth of Pier 8 is being completed.
To the east, the sub-foundations of Pier 18 have been completed, the first under the trace of the two spans of the old viaduct, demolished with the explosion in June.
At the same time, on the same side, work is underway on the foundation piles of Pier 15, while work is nearing completion on Pier 10.
In the meantime, the preparatory work for the foundation piles of Piers 14 and 16 is being carried out, and the operations for the abutment bulkhead for the connection ramp with the A7 motorway have also begun to the east.
Finally, to the west, the ground assembly of the first two steel spans is advancing and the work for the third span began a few days ago.
The arrival of new elements from Sestri Ponente, which will make up the first eastern span, is scheduled for next week.
